When a person rescues dogs from a shelter, they don’t always know the animal’s history. Some dogs don’t have a backstory when they show up.
Super Scootie already had deformities when he was found. Like some animals, they don’t know what happened to him or how he got there. Amanda is the owner of Panda Paws Rescue and took Super Scootie in.
Amanda knows that Super Scootie’s flipper feet are a congenital malformation. As for his mouth, she feels that it is a severe mouth disease which can lead to infection. It’s dangerous because the oral infection could lead to death.
Amanda knew that she needed to bring Super Scootie to the vet immediately to be checked. The doctor checked Super Scootie and got x-rays. Dr. Thomas explained to Amanda how Super Scootie’s joints never fully developed.
There was no attachment to the joints, which resulted in his flipper feet. The x-ray showed that his mouth had missing bones.
Dr. Thomas explained that Scootie might have had a major infection in his mouth. They could see that his teeth and bone were severely decayed.
Amazingly, he is still alive after a severe infection. Amanda asked the doctor what they can do for Scootie moving forward. Considering Scootie’s age, which is ten years old, she is in pretty good shape. There’s nothing that they can do to correct anything.
Doing surgery on him to correct his legs would be an unnecessary risk. He has completely adjusted to his flipper feet, so there’s no need to fix it.
Amand is happy that Scootie is not showing any signs of pain from his condition. Amanda is even more grateful that someone was willing to take in a senior dog with bone issues.
It is bittersweet for Amanda because she has formed a strong bond with Scootie. She had to remind herself that she had to let go so she can rescue more dogs.
Scootie is fortunate that Amanda found him. Through her, he found his forever home.
