Having horrible bosses at some point in your life shouldn’t be completely normal. A workplace should be somewhere you can enjoy growth and focus on your company’s goals without any toxicity and demotivation.
You may have probably heard the news about a horrible boss based in Georgia who thought he’d easily get away after bullying his former employee. Well, long story short, he didn’t succeed.
Andreas Flatten worked for A OK Walker Autoworks for a period of time. He was always dedicated to what he does and made sure to work with dignity. However, when the time came wherein he asked for his schedule to be adjusted, he was disappointed.
Initially, Flatten requested for his work shift to be changed to adjust to her daughter’s daycare schedule. But his manager, Miles Walker, strongly declined.
Flatten dealt with it and continued showing up for work but after some time, his work environment became too toxic for him. So, he did what’s best – resign from it.
Flatten notified his manager about his plans to leave and submitted his resignation letter with a 2-week notice. But because his manager continued to make the workplace toxic for him, he decided to leave 5 days within his render period.
In every employee that leaves their company, the last payment must be given weeks or months after their departure. Flatten was promised his last paycheck too but he never received it.
Fast forward 5 months later, Flatten still hadn’t received his check, and following up about it was becoming a hassle. Thus, he reached out to the US Labor and Employment Dept for help.
As soon as Miles Walker knew about what Flatten did, the manager did the most inhumane thing possible. He left $915 worth of pennies outside Flatten’s house as his last pay. The worst part? He poured some unidentified oil that smelled funny over the coins and left a sarcastic note on top of it.
Both Flatten and his girlfriend was dumbfounded. They only wanted to get his well-deserved paycheck but they were met with unjustifiable actions. Thus, in hopes of raising awareness to fellow citizens Olivia Oxley, Flatten’s girlfriend narrated everything on social media.
Overnight, the post became viral and was picked up by news outlets. Everything was in a frenzy but it was also a blessing.
One of the few blessings they received was, a coin company called Coinstar, offered to encash the pennies and even rounded it up to $1000. Flatten was also given the chance to choose which charity he’d like to be funded for the same amount of money.
As a dog owner himself, Flatten chose Royal Animal Refuge and TLC Pet Rescue as his beneficiaries. Two shelter homes that he held close to his heart. Stay strong and live in prosperity, Andreas Flatten!
