A woman named Laura was out for a quick stroll with her dog Hank when suddenly, he stopped and started pulling on his leash. He was good with a leash on so she wondered what could be wrong. He continued to pull her toward the ditch and began sniffing, and thatâs when she realized something must be hiding in the bush.
Laura decided to check what caught her dog’s attention, and to her surprise, a tiny face popped up. It was a Terrier mix puppy covered with flies and mosquitoes. And with the way it looked, she was certain someone dumped the poor animal in the ditch to die.
Laura and her husband Evan offered the puppy lots of treats and encouraged him to stand up and come with them. He wanted to oblige, but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldnât move. He just lay on the bush and stared at the strangers in front of him.
The couple gently scooped up the puppy they named Gomie and took him straight to the vet. Meanwhile, they began searching for a rescue organization that could take him in. And soon enough, they reached Second Chance Pet Adoptions.
Although emaciated, Gomie wasnât very dehydrated, which meant he wasnât out there for very long. But his skinny body also suggested that he starved even before he was dumped. He was so weak, and he looked so sad and defeated.
Gomie needed surgery to fix his broken hip. His paralysis, however, gradually subsided on its own. He managed to lift his head and was soon able to stand without help.
Laura and Evan played a huge part in Gomieâs recovery. It was most probably because of them that he felt love and understood what it meant to be part of a family for the very first time. They taught him that life isnât that cruel after all.
Gomie, now 1 year and 4 months old, is ready for a fresh start. He gets along with female dogs and would love to have one as a new friend and companion. If you want this sweet boy in your life, contact Second Chance now.
