Reddit is a pretty interesting dump of funny and entertaining stories. One particularly interesting story was shared on a sub about people mistaken as workers.
The poster was working in an office that allowed them to bring their dogs with them. Unfortunately for the poster, they did not own a dog because of their apartment and had felt left out.
They would have the bowls of food and water by the door as customers never came to their office. Across the street was a doggie daycare.
One day, a woman came rushing inside the office with a big basset hound in tow. She immediately asked the OP if they worked at the office. She also inquired if they take walk-ins and that she wants to drop off the dog.
The poster thought that the woman had an appointment with someone at the office. They asked who the woman had talked to, but the woman was in such a hurry. She just left the dog, his favorite treats, said she’d be back in a few hours, and left.
They thought she may have been a friend of a coworker and had a prior arrangement with that coworker, so the poster received the dog and took him to the back. No one knew the dog nor woman, and that was when they realized that the woman might have mistaken their office for the daycare from across the street.
Despite the mix-up, the poster was happy as a clam that they were no longer left out. Otis was a calm and cool dog. According to the poster, all he did was lie down all day. At the end of the day, the woman came back for Otis and paid $20 for the services without ever knowing that they weren’t a doggie daycare center.
She started dropping off Otis from then on every week. Otis became a regular and even got to be on the office Christmas card photo that they give out to clients. As it turned out, though, a client was friends with Otis’ owner. She came one day, holding a copy of the Christmas card, confirming that the place was not dog day care.
To the poster’s surprise, however, the woman continued to leave Otis with them. Otis continued to be their office dog until his family moved away. Coincidentally, the poster also took on a new job.
